Ep.9 Giving compliments, receiving compliments. [relationships] - The Borealis Experience

Episode 9

Ep.9 Giving compliments, receiving compliments. [relationships]

Published on: 24th May, 2022

This podcast episode is all about your mental health and relationships.

We are as healthy as our relationships are.

We are as happy as our mind is.

One thing that I have noticed is that people are quick to judge and have an opinion about everything. Does that make our society and relationships, families stronger? I believe it doesn't!

Can we start seeing the good and graceful in each other and that everybody is trying their best?

Next time we see or feel somebody is trying, doing their best or is simply gorgeous to be around. Notice and speak it out.

Words of deep appreciation and respect can go a looooooooong way to the point that you can really make another person's day.

enjoy this episode.

Hello, hello and welcome to the Borealis

Unknown:

experience. I'm your host Aurora, life coach and companion

Unknown:

on this beautiful journey called life. I'm so happy to be

Unknown:

spending some time with you today. I hope you're in a good

Unknown:

place, I hope I can bring you value hope, love understanding.

Unknown:

The most important mission I have with my podcast is that I

Unknown:

provide you with tools that help you to get to know yourself

Unknown:

better, the better you know yourself, the better decisions

Unknown:

you're gonna make. And the more content and fulfilled you're

Unknown:

going to be, which in turn is going to deeply affect the

Unknown:

people, the environment around you. Today I want to talk about

Unknown:

compliments. What are the thoughts the feelings that come

Unknown:

up when I speak out this word compliment? I want to compliment

Unknown:

you. I have so much respect for you for being here. Because

Unknown:

chances are you are a person with a growth mindset. You are

Unknown:

an entrepreneur, you are a parent, you are a lover, you are

Unknown:

just a very decent human being who wants to live up to their

Unknown:

potential and be their best version. And proud of you. You

Unknown:

can be proud of yourself. How do you react when you receive a

Unknown:

compliment? Do you blush? Do you accept? Do you reject and

Unknown:

decline? Do you make fun of people that give you a

Unknown:

compliment? Do you give compliments easily? Or are you

Unknown:

hard to impress? I feel we can give each other so much energy

Unknown:

and complimenting speaking out a compliment. It is so important

Unknown:

to acknowledge the people around you to truly see them for who

Unknown:

they are to see their efforts and what they are accomplishing

Unknown:

doing, but especially who they are. Who are you? What is

Unknown:

special about it to be you? How do you perceive the world? When

Unknown:

you receive a compliment, you have touched something in

Unknown:

another person. Yes, there is genuine compliments and there's

Unknown:

honest compliments. But let's just talk about the honest

Unknown:

compliments today. If somebody wants to give you a compliment,

Unknown:

you have triggered something positive inside of them. They

Unknown:

see something in you that you might not see in yourself. I

Unknown:

feel that a lot of times when we reject a compliment. It is

Unknown:

because we don't see ourselves the same way that other people

Unknown:

perceive us. Every time that's the case. So every time you

Unknown:

reject a compliment, you don't want to accept a compliment. I

Unknown:

feel that's where we have to go deeper and find out what is

Unknown:

going on here. Why do you have a a weird, negative perception of

Unknown:

yourself and how can we heal that? Do you freely give away

Unknown:

genuine compliments? Or do you never really acknowledge the

Unknown:

people around you? Do you show appreciation. It is so important

Unknown:

when you want to have a deep connection with the people

Unknown:

around you. And it doesn't have to be your romantic partner it

Unknown:

can be your parents, your siblings, other relatives, your

Unknown:

friends, acquaintances, a stranger in the street. One

Unknown:

little rule I live by is to leave the people in a better

Unknown:

mood than how I found them. And sometimes a compliment

Unknown:

just does it just does the trick. It can make another

Unknown:

person stay if they receive it well, you can really make a

Unknown:

positive little imprint on their heart. And isn't that so magical

Unknown:

and beautiful and worth trying. So, over the next couple of

Unknown:

days, I want you to notice things. And people around you, I

Unknown:

want you to acknowledge actions, gestures, behaviors, that deeply

Unknown:

touch you impress you, make you feel good about yourself or

Unknown:

about other people. And if you're not there yet to express

Unknown:

it, then just notice it, just start by noticing it. But if

Unknown:

you've already, I encourage you, to express it, to show

Unknown:

gratitude, appreciation, show that you're deeply impressed by

Unknown:

another person. We never know what's going on in another

Unknown:

person's life, you know, they might have a really tough and

Unknown:

shitty day. And then you come along and share this beautiful

Unknown:

genuine compliment with them. And all of a sudden, they see

Unknown:

the good and humanity again, all of a sudden, they feel better

Unknown:

about themselves. Again, all of a sudden, they feel energy to

Unknown:

accomplish the next steps that they need to take. On that day.

Unknown:

We all have to become a little bit more aware on what deep of

Unknown:

an impact we have on each other. And once we know that, once

Unknown:

we're aware of this, we have to own that power. And make the

Unknown:

best of it. The way you impact people is the way that people

Unknown:

are going to remember you, the way you make people feel is what

Unknown:

they're going to be thinking of when they think of you. It is an

Unknown:

incredibly beautiful experience, to be noticed, to feel

Unknown:

acknowledged, to feel seen and hurt, you know that to try to

Unknown:

give that to other people. And we can all make this planet a

Unknown:

little bit more kind a little bit more magical and beautiful

Unknown:

again, and it costs you absolutely nothing. Just a

Unknown:

couple of words. Just a deep look in the eye. A smile, a tap

Unknown:

on the shoulder. Very, very simple and powerful at the same

Unknown:

time. Right. I'm gonna leave you with that. It's all my love and

Unknown:

care. Thank you so much for sharing with the people around

Unknown:

you with loved ones. And if you want to send me a little

Unknown:

appreciation, donations through my buy me a coffee link are

Unknown:

highly appreciated. For me to continue this beautiful little

Unknown:

podcast for me to make this work. Yeah, sustainable and most

Unknown:

impactful on our society. Take care of yourself, and I'll be

Unknown:

out there very soon again. Bye bye

Also..
A little bit about me
Trust me I’m far from feeling, behaving or being perfect.
Perfection is nothing I’m thriving for yet I can say I’m proud of my path/ life journey.

I'm no longer enslaved to my #depression
I'm no longer a #rapevictim
I no longer struggle with #eatingdisorder
I no longer feel the need to hold on to fear, anger and resentment towards men.
I #create podcast episodes and videos several times a week to support and inspire others even on days I feel poorly.
I push through hard times while being gentle on myself.

I'm able to be consistent without feeling drained for the first time in my life because I found something that brings me joy and excitement and stills my hunger to support people out there.

I try my best to understand people’s harsh opinions that are not in alignment with my values .

I learn every day on how to express myself better in a foreign language

I no longer use being bullied back then in school as an excuse in life to not show up for myself or others.

I ask questions, really annoying questions, in order to experience my environment and to find out what is best for me and my people around me ..
Yes, I still feel triggered in many situations.
Yes, I feel depressed and discouraged at times but I embrace it and don’t let it define me anymore.

Doing all this allows me to meet incredible people along the way.

People who:
- inspire me
- encourage me and ignite my deep compassion

I'm grateful for all of you and I’m so happy that I can learn from you and grow together with you .

We are all together in this beautiful mess called life
Thank you for being here

Lots of love and respect

About your host

Profile picture for Aurora Eggert

Aurora Eggert

Hello there,
Born and raised in Germany under the influence of French culture I got a taste of how people perceive life and situations totally differently depending on how and where they grew up. this ignited my deepest curiosity for human behaviour at a very young age.

Being always more of an introvert and observant child I absorbed a lot of stuff that to this day weigh heavy on my soul but on the bright side I can say that these experiences make me relate so much deeper and better to the people around me.

I understand pain. I know suffering. I know how it feels to feel misunderstood.
People say I have a warm, soothing vibe and I enjoyed many years working as a physiotherapist in Germany.

Today I’m more venturing towards bringing healing through podcasting/ Life coaching and yoga. I also encourage people to spend more time out in nature and have a Yurt set up in our forest where I host regular relaxation classes.

I would like to call myself a perception shifter because this is what helped me on my path of (ongoing) healing - I’d love to offer perception shifting thoughts/views in order to make people feel more real and their life easier and their relationships deeper.

I’m also passionate about bringing awareness to locally grown food to people’s table as I’m certain that feeling empowered and real starts with what you nurture your body with and what you absorb with all senses from your environment on a daily basis .

I live in the Rocky Mountains
Raise a couple chickens Free range for eggs and grow a beautiful vegetable garden with my grandmother, fiance and mother in summer.

Podcasting became my passion because I can reach people all over the world- Give hope, make people feel less lonely and self-empowered. Furthermore the interviews with people from around the world expand my horizon and help me heal my soul.
Bonnie my pitbull is always at my side.
connect with me and share your story on my show .

Love ❤️
A.
