Episode 31
EP.31 How to keep an open mind and have a deeper understanding of your environment [self-awareness]
How to keep an open mind and have a deeper understanding of your environment
Why is having an open mind more important than ever ?
What has travelling to do with it ?
How come we take things for granted in our daily life?
What I have learnt along my journey is that when I travel and leave my daily life behind for a little while I can look at my whole life with fresh eyes. This way I can find out what I dearly miss and want to hold onto or I will find out what I need to let go off of.
What are some things that you will hold on to and what are these other things that really need to go but you can’t quite put a finger on it ?

Transcript
Hello, hello, and welcome to the Borealis
Unknown:experience. I'm your host Aurora, life coach and companion
Unknown:on this beautiful journey called life. I'm so happy to be
Unknown:spending some time with you today, it's a very hot day out
Unknown:there had shows 40 degrees Celsius. And I'm in my very cool
Unknown:little forest house. And it's just so nice to be able to hide
Unknown:away from this heat, I hope you're doing well, I hope you
Unknown:are in a good place. I hope you feel loved and understood and
Unknown:free. Freedom is such a big thing nowadays, right we, we all
Unknown:felt stuck and caught and crammed. During those COVID
Unknown:years, and now we want to feel free we want to explore we want
Unknown:to feel as if what we do matters, we want to feel a sense
Unknown:of purpose. So I really hope that you have found that chances
Unknown:are if you are listening to my podcast, you might be still in a
Unknown:place of uncertainty and maybe feeling a little bit stuck. And
Unknown:if that's the case, I hope I can provide a space for you where
Unknown:you can feel yourself, rest and recharge your batteries. And
Unknown:make some time to reflect and to grow. Or go deeper or understand
Unknown:yourself and others on a deeper level.
Unknown:Today I want to talk about the importance of traveling.
Unknown:Traveling, you don't have to be a travel bag. You don't have to
Unknown:be that kind of person, you know who discovers a new country each
Unknown:month of the year.
Unknown:You can be a person who's actually very content with where
Unknown:they live. But I what I invite you to do is to be open to
Unknown:perceive an old place a place that you feel, you know, very
Unknown:comfortable and with new fresh eyes and perspective. And that
Unknown:if you travel and go drive, walk to a new place that you look at
Unknown:the new place through the eyes of a child very curious. Very,
Unknown:very inquisitive. very open minded. I've learned that in
Unknown:recent years. I'm I'm not an extreme travel bug, but I
Unknown:traveled a lot and the benefits of traveling, have having an
Unknown:open mind. Meeting new people seeing new places is wonderful.
Unknown:It's just so great. And all of a sudden, all those little
Unknown:problems that you had in your daily life, vanish, or even get
Unknown:resolved.
Unknown:If we go into birds perspective, like I say all too often, or if
Unknown:we have a little bit of you know distance from our current life
Unknown:from our daily life. It's sometimes it's easier to see
Unknown:what is not going well for us. And we can also start missing.
Unknown:What is going very well for us right you can miss your
Unknown:children, your partner, your hobbies, your house, your
Unknown:apartment, your pets, whatever it is that you leave behind for
Unknown:a little while. You will start missing if you truly love it and
Unknown:enjoy it in your life and when we come back home, then, most of
Unknown:the time we have this feeling of a full heart, a grateful heart
Unknown:and we promise ourselves someday I was even that we want to be
Unknown:more grateful for what we have, because we missed it so much now
Unknown:that we didn't have the people in our life or the things or the
Unknown:hobbies. And now, we promised ourselves that when we engaged
Unknown:again, then we want to be more mindful. And it's really
Unknown:important to remind ourselves of that, and to not forget to be
Unknown:grateful for what we have. And that yeah, we will be coming
Unknown:back to our daily daily life, but maybe we can look at it with
Unknown:fresh eyes. And maybe if you travel to a new place, you can
Unknown:be curious about everything that's going on, sometimes we
Unknown:traveled to a new place, and we want to make sure that our
Unknown:comfort zone is being preserved read, we want the same coffee,
Unknown:we want the same breakfast, we want the same way of living in a
Unknown:new country. And that's sometimes very hard to find. So
Unknown:if we start to be more open and more relaxed, and know that we
Unknown:have everything that we need to feel comfortable, we don't need,
Unknown:what we have at home, but we can learn new things that make us
Unknown:feel comfortable and good and safe. To have that open
Unknown:mindedness is such a gift, it opens extremely valuable
Unknown:precious doors to your life. I traveled to a nearby city two
Unknown:weekends ago, and we went to a Japanese garden. And we entered
Unknown:this garden. And he just thought and felt all of a sudden as if
Unknown:you were in a new world. And I started moving differently and
Unknown:thinking differently, and seeing details that I wouldn't see if
Unknown:it wasn't in a sacred space like that Japanese garden Enos. And
Unknown:it really initiated a shift inside of myself. And that is
Unknown:what inspired my episode today is that you don't have to travel
Unknown:far. You don't have to pay expensive. How do you say that?
Unknown:You don't have to pay for expensive flight tickets. But
Unknown:you can travel to a close by place and go to a new cafe, go
Unknown:to an art gallery, do something that you would usually never do.
Unknown:And by physically engaging in something that we never do, of
Unknown:course, it's it's a safe activity, it's an activity that
Unknown:makes you good, feel good. It's nothing dangerous. It's nothing,
Unknown:you know, too, out there and too challenging. As soon as we put
Unknown:ourselves in a new environment, our mind opens again, and our
Unknown:heart will do the same.
Unknown:And that is what I'm inviting people to do. Most of the time
Unknown:in my workshop that I hosted here in over the last couple of
Unknown:months. I invite people to listen with their heart, put
Unknown:your pen away, put your mind away for a second, turn the
Unknown:volume down and simply listen with your heart and see how
Unknown:differently it hits you how it stimulates your nervous system
Unknown:and a different way. I feel all too often we approach situations
Unknown:difficult people, our work our life, our love life from a very
Unknown:heavy space. And then we get upset that we don't get the
Unknown:results that we want. And I don't have the solution to that
Unknown:I'm not, you know, hovering above you. I'm right next to you
Unknown:in this mess. But what I've noticed this, once I turned the
Unknown:volume down of my mind, I can switch my heart on and I'm
Unknown:curious and hoping and in a place of you know wanting to
Unknown:learn new things. needing to understand my environment.
Unknown:Instead of having opinions making assumptions, or having
Unknown:harsh judgments. I feel much better with myself. I sleep much
Unknown:better. I feel much better. In my skin. So make the time to go
Unknown:visit new places, say yes to an invitation, of course, only if
Unknown:it's safe, that you usually would decline, you know, there's
Unknown:little community fests festivals, or there is, like I
Unknown:said earlier art galleries, that host events, there is theatres,
Unknown:movies, live music, cooking classes, you can learn a musical
Unknown:instrument, learn to stimulate your brain in a way that you
Unknown:haven't stimulated in a long time, and then change it up. You
Unknown:don't have to go too deep, you can just try it out once. And if
Unknown:you like it, you try it out twice. But the physical location
Unknown:can usually help us to be that open minded again. We forget
Unknown:about it. And we need to get reminded that this world is so
Unknown:big. And we're just so small. And to have that humble feeling
Unknown:in your chest, that you're just a little creature trying to do
Unknown:her or his way. Not by diminishing yourself and looking
Unknown:down on yourself. And, you know, thinking thoughts like, Oh, my
Unknown:God, I'm just so unimportant. And I'm just this little wheel,
Unknown:and I will never make a difference in other people's
Unknown:lives. No, that's not what I mean. But to see how different
Unknown:people approach situations in a different way, can be so mind
Unknown:blowing at times. It's so fascinating how a different
Unknown:culture would approach a specific topic like, you know,
Unknown:anger management, or love dilemmas, or eating disorders,
Unknown:with such a different mindset. And we can learn so much. If we
Unknown:have an open mind. And then you come home, get back into your
Unknown:daily life. And we'll be more grateful for what you have, or
Unknown:will introduce into your life new practices. And when you meet
Unknown:people, and it doesn't matter if you're single or in a
Unknown:relationship, you will also look at them in a different way, you
Unknown:will maybe listen to them more closely. You will see that,
Unknown:yeah, you know that person for several years now. But they
Unknown:still have secrets, they still have ways of thinking that you
Unknown:could never imagine they would have. And to be curious to be
Unknown:open minded will help you deepen your relationships
Unknown:enormously to a point that you can really press a reset button
Unknown:in a relationship, just by being curious. You don't need to get
Unknown:fancy, you can just ask questions. I feel we we don't
Unknown:wander enough anymore. Right? Because everything is at the tip
Unknown:of our fingers. We can Google CellTech right away. But you can
Unknown:google your partner, you can google your children. You have
Unknown:to ask questions, be inquisitive and observe them with the
Unknown:kindest, most loving eyes and learn to understand them. And by
Unknown:traveling by leaving your comfort zone. You will feel that
Unknown:deep appreciation for sure for what you have, and for what you
Unknown:want and desire in your life for what you want to change in your
Unknown:life for what doesn't fit anymore, and really has to go
Unknown:now. So, my dear friend, my dear listener, I'm going to leave you
Unknown:with this. I'm sending my love out to you. As always, if you
Unknown:want to request an episode Don't hold back. I'm also available
Unknown:for one on one coaching or if you're a group of people, and
Unknown:you want me to hold workshops So be it in your friends circle or
Unknown:at work with your co workers, or you want to pass on my details
Unknown:to your boss and invite them to host workshops with me together.
Unknown:Then I'm open and available for this as well. All right, thank
Unknown:you so much for being here. I hope I was able to bring you
Unknown:lots of value and peace and hope and self reflection to take good
Unknown:care of yourself and I'll be out there very soon again. Bye bye
