Ep.27 Is your inner critic driving you crazy?

Published on: 16th April, 2021

Hey there

I think it's save to say that we are all very familiar with our inner critic

once we start on a new path or make an important decision it creeps up on us and fills us with doubt ..

What were you thinking?

You really think you deserve better?

You are so selfish.

You really think this person might be interested in you?

You are not enough.

You need to do more.

You suck....

How do you deal with your inner critic ?

with love

Hello, hello,

Unknown:

and welcome to the Borealis experience. I'm your host

Unknown:

Aurora. And I'm very happy to be spending some time with you

Unknown:

today. I hope you're doing well, I hope you're in a good place.

Unknown:

And if you're not in a good place, I hope I can give you.

Unknown:

Yeah, hope and make you feel better about yourself. And the

Unknown:

situation you might be in today's topic is your inner

Unknown:

critic, and Outer Critics. I feel that when we choose to get

Unknown:

rid of our bad behaviors, patterns, habits that are not

Unknown:

serving us anymore. When we choose to walk on a new path, a

Unknown:

path that maybe no one ever walked on in our family, then we

Unknown:

will not be left alone, or how do you say spared being tested?

Unknown:

I posted her episode about that recently. And I felt it's really

Unknown:

important to talk about it again, that sometimes the

Unknown:

challenges will come from the inside, from your monkey mind

Unknown:

from your head. It is your inner critic that will jump in and

Unknown:

question what you're doing is that really what you want to do

Unknown:

is this way you see us going, are you sure you want to be

Unknown:

walking on that new path, you're not worth it. You don't deserve

Unknown:

to be free and happy. You need to struggle and work hard. So

Unknown:

sometimes we expect the test to come from the outside. But what

Unknown:

I learned painfully is that the monkey mind, the inner critic

Unknown:

will be your biggest challenge. And on the one side, sorry, on

Unknown:

the one side, it's a good thing. Because you can learn to be in

Unknown:

control of that monkey mind and put it in a corner, turn the

Unknown:

volume down. But on the other side, it's also very, very tough

Unknown:

because it's deeply ingrained thoughts, things that we

Unknown:

sometimes copy and pasted from our parents to not say inherited

Unknown:

from our ancestors. See, when you look at my grandma, for

Unknown:

instance, she went through war and Europe. And so she was

Unknown:

conceived during war and was born into war and then grew up

Unknown:

after the war was done. But the stress that her mom had to go

Unknown:

through during her pregnancy, and during the young years of my

Unknown:

grandma deeply affected my grandma too. So all this to say

Unknown:

is you your parents probably went through some stuff at some

Unknown:

point in their lives. And that deeply influenced their behavior

Unknown:

now, or even their DNA. And that will influence you. Which

Unknown:

doesn't mean that this is a stamp a tattoo that you will

Unknown:

never get rid of. But you have to get aware of it first. And

Unknown:

you have to see that certain behaviors, certain thought

Unknown:

patterns are not serving you anymore. And to then go out

Unknown:

there and question and, and let go of those thought patterns and

Unknown:

replace them with positive thought patterns is a very tough

Unknown:

job to do.

Unknown:

But I tell you what, it's so worth it and you might feel

Unknown:

you're distancing yourself from your family, you might be losing

Unknown:

contact for a while because you need a little bit of more

Unknown:

distance, because you realize certain behaviors were truly

Unknown:

abusive and way too aggressive and you don't want to continue

Unknown:

that chain Have behavior let's, let's say, but there will come a

Unknown:

point where you can forgive and forget. And where your family

Unknown:

can see that you're doing well, and you are on a new path and

Unknown:

you are creating, or getting ready for the evolution of the

Unknown:

human species. Right? So, if we were all to copy our parents

Unknown:

behavior, if they were to copy their parents behavior, like one

Unknown:

on one, never question anything, there wouldn't be any evolution

Unknown:

possible. We have to learn and adapt, we have to get rid of

Unknown:

things that were given to us, that are not serving us or

Unknown:

humanity, and be okay, and know that our parents are still

Unknown:

heroes, they still awesome. We don't have to blame and shame

Unknown:

them. But what I want to say here today is that your inner

Unknown:

critic, the way you feel about yourself, was shaped and molded

Unknown:

in a very young youth, the way your dad treated you highly

Unknown:

influenced your confidence, your self esteem, the way your mom

Unknown:

treated, you highly influences how you treat other people. And

Unknown:

again, how you feel about yourself. And our parents are no

Unknown:

saints. They are wonderful people who gave them all their

Unknown:

everything, to raise us with everything we need it. But

Unknown:

remember, you were not born with a manual, you will not born with

Unknown:

a little piece of paper where it says Justin will be awesome at

Unknown:

playing the piano, and is awesome at learning English, and

Unknown:

will be a highly intuitive person and a good doctor one

Unknown:

day, they don't know those things. So sometimes you're

Unknown:

being influenced in a different direction. First, a direction

Unknown:

that your family sees as best for you. But then you realize

Unknown:

quickly, this is not what I wanted to do here. This is not

Unknown:

what I came here for. And I want to break loose and find my

Unknown:

purpose and be on my path. And that's a scary path to be on.

Unknown:

But truly the only one that is healthy and good for you. And

Unknown:

yeah, you might have to have a couple conversations with your

Unknown:

family, the people that are close to you. But you have to

Unknown:

follow your purpose, you have to follow your inner voice. So your

Unknown:

inner critic is going to question you and make you

Unknown:

question makes you doubt what you're doing there. It's gonna,

Unknown:

depending on how confident you are with yourself, pull you back

Unknown:

in a very low self esteem and make you ask yourself, yeah, why

Unknown:

do I think people need what I got to offer? Why do I think

Unknown:

people will listen to what I say. And when you hear that

Unknown:

little voice, I'm hoping with this episode here, to remember

Unknown:

my voice and to remember that it is perfectly normal, that this

Unknown:

voice will come up. It will question you, it will doubt you

Unknown:

it will bring you down. It will maybe haunt you in your dreams.

Unknown:

But you have to turn the volume down or that little voice and

Unknown:

you have to keep walking that walk and know that if your

Unknown:

intentions are good, if you're here to serve people, if you

Unknown:

here to express your soul to express yourself, then this path

Unknown:

will always be the right one for you. And that little voice will

Unknown:

throw tantrums and get loud and very destructive. But you have

Unknown:

to feel and know that you're just being tested and you may

Unknown:

continue on your beautiful new path

Unknown:

that you are on. This episode maybe you heard it in my voice

Unknown:

is very very dear to my heart because it took me a long time

Unknown:

to put that inner critic into the corner. And to smile at it

Unknown:

and just know that this is a little part of myself that I

Unknown:

don't want to give too much importance. And I'm hoping so

Unknown:

much that in listening to this episode here He will identify

Unknown:

this little voice quickly. And you will be able to take

Unknown:

shortcuts or Yeah, take less time to totally blossom and

Unknown:

unfold your potential and sending my love out to you. I

Unknown:

hope you're doing well. And I will be out there very soon

Unknown:

again. Thank you so much for listening to the Borealis

Unknown:

experience. Please share, or review my podcast here. It will

Unknown:

mean the world to me. And yeah, you can always connect with me

Unknown:

on Facebook. I'm glad to answer questions, more receive requests

Unknown:

from you. Until next time, bye bye,

Also..
A little bit about me
Trust me I’m far from feeling, behaving or being perfect.
Perfection is nothing I’m thriving for yet I can say I’m proud of my path/ life journey.

I'm no longer enslaved to my #depression
I'm no longer a #rapevictim
I no longer struggle with #eatingdisorder
I no longer feel the need to hold on to fear, anger and resentment towards men.
I #create podcast episodes and videos several times a week to support and inspire others even on days I feel poorly.
I push through hard times while being gentle on myself.

I'm able to be consistent without feeling drained for the first time in my life because I found something that brings me joy and excitement and stills my hunger to support people out there.

I try my best to understand people’s harsh opinions that are not in alignment with my values .

I learn every day on how to express myself better in a foreign language

I no longer use being bullied back then in school as an excuse in life to not show up for myself or others.

I ask questions, really annoying questions, in order to experience my environment and to find out what is best for me and my people around me ..
Yes, I still feel triggered in many situations.
Yes, I feel depressed and discouraged at times but I embrace it and don’t let it define me anymore.

Doing all this allows me to meet incredible people along the way.

People who:
- inspire me
- encourage me and ignite my deep compassion

I'm grateful for all of you and I’m so happy that I can learn from you and grow together with you .

We are all together in this beautiful mess called life
Thank you for being here

Lots of love and respect

Aurora Eggert

Hello there,
Born and raised in Germany under the influence of French culture I got a taste of how people perceive life and situations totally differently depending on how and where they grew up. this ignited my deepest curiosity for human behaviour at a very young age.

Being always more of an introvert and observant child I absorbed a lot of stuff that to this day weigh heavy on my soul but on the bright side I can say that these experiences make me relate so much deeper and better to the people around me.

I understand pain. I know suffering. I know how it feels to feel misunderstood.
People say I have a warm, soothing vibe and I enjoyed many years working as a physiotherapist in Germany.

Today I’m more venturing towards bringing healing through podcasting/ Life coaching and yoga. I also encourage people to spend more time out in nature and have a Yurt set up in our forest where I host regular relaxation classes.

I would like to call myself a perception shifter because this is what helped me on my path of (ongoing) healing - I’d love to offer perception shifting thoughts/views in order to make people feel more real and their life easier and their relationships deeper.

I’m also passionate about bringing awareness to locally grown food to people’s table as I’m certain that feeling empowered and real starts with what you nurture your body with and what you absorb with all senses from your environment on a daily basis .

I live in the Rocky Mountains
Raise a couple chickens Free range for eggs and grow a beautiful vegetable garden with my grandmother, fiance and mother in summer.

Podcasting became my passion because I can reach people all over the world- Give hope, make people feel less lonely and self-empowered. Furthermore the interviews with people from around the world expand my horizon and help me heal my soul.
Bonnie my pitbull is always at my side.
connect with me and share your story on my show .

Love ❤️
A.
