Hello, hello, and welcome to the Borealis
Unknown:experience. I'm your host Aurora. And I'm very happy to be
Unknown:spending some time with you today. It is Friday. And yeah, I
Unknown:hope you have a good weekend ahead of you. I know. For some
Unknown:people, it's the weekend, no work all week long. But maybe by
Unknown:now you find a hobby.
Unknown:Sorry, found a hobby, or
Unknown:are okay with the COVID situation. It's very tough on
Unknown:all of us, no matter where you're at. So just a reminder
Unknown:that you're not alone in this. We're in this together.
Unknown:Yeah, I hope you enjoyed my little intro here. Today's
Unknown:episode is about appreciation. Do you truly appreciate
Unknown:things live, everything you have.
Unknown:A friend of mine contacted me today, and said she really tries
Unknown:to appreciate drinking water now. And when she has a shower,
Unknown:then she really appreciates the water and
Unknown:uses a lotion or oil afterwards.
Unknown:To feel good and her skin. And I really encourage people to do
Unknown:that more and more because it's not always on your partner to
Unknown:apply physical touch nonsexual physical touch. And if you're
Unknown:single, then it's especially important that you know how to
Unknown:take really good care of your body.
Unknown:So drinking water on a regular and then not just chucking it
Unknown:around, and not just doing it because the doctor told you to
Unknown:drink those three liters a day. But to really
Unknown:see that this is a precious material.
Unknown:Do you say material, maybe not an English
Unknown:and it is going to nourish your body, it's going to make your
Unknown:heart function, your lungs function, your kidneys function,
Unknown:and your body is going to make beautiful cells out of that
Unknown:water and keep you healthy and in balance.
Unknown:And when it comes to the shower, I just got reminded today that
Unknown:so often we just during the day, wash our hands, have a shower,
Unknown:rub soap on, wash it off. Maybe anon COVID times get a hug from
Unknown:a friend or a partner. You have sex with your partner. But do
Unknown:you really take care of your skin and really feel and touch
Unknown:your body at times. I think we all don't do that enough in a
Unknown:non sexual way. And maybe you can think of it more often and
Unknown:really appreciate your beautiful hands, your forearms, your
Unknown:biceps, your triceps and your back. Give yourself a little bag
Unknown:right up there with some oil, some
Unknown:body lotion.
Unknown:And then, of course going for walks and inhaling fresh air and
Unknown:really filling up your lungs with that beautiful oxygen that
Unknown:is also nourishing your air every being.
Unknown:And then when it comes to our relationships, do you really
Unknown:truly appreciate the people that are in your life that you love?
Unknown:Do you make eye contact with them? Do you ask them questions
Unknown:that go beyond how was your day? And can you do this or that for
Unknown:me? Do you listen to them? Maybe do you
Unknown:treat them with a massage or beautiful music or something?
Unknown:Like when we think about the five senses, whatever you can do
Unknown:to I don't want to say stimulate the other senses but to
Unknown:To
Unknown:bring something good to your partners or friends,
Unknown:life,
Unknown:then think about the five senses, maybe you can cook well,
Unknown:and you're awesome at preparing meals, maybe you are a musician,
Unknown:and you can play beautiful music, and you totally
Unknown:underestimate how touching it is to play music for another
Unknown:person.
Unknown:Maybe you are an artist, or you are totally handsome, pretty
Unknown:lady, and you can just
Unknown:Yeah, stimulate their visual sense.
Unknown:And then physical touch is also very powerful. You can give a
Unknown:hand rub a foot rub
Unknown:a bad group.
Unknown:And,
Unknown:yeah, so sometimes we're so caught up in trying to make
Unknown:ourselves good. And we forget that doing someone, somebody
Unknown:else something good, does us good, as well, because we're
Unknown:herd animals, and we need each other. And when the other is
Unknown:doing well, it usually positively affects us as well.
Unknown:And then we have the fifth sense, the scent.
Unknown:I've only discovered that recently. Actually, I know
Unknown:perfumes are awesome and make you feel great after a shower.
Unknown:But to have essential oils,
Unknown:do you different kinds of sense to when you eat, really eat with
Unknown:all your senses and really smell your food, really smell that
Unknown:orange before you bite into it, that pineapple.
Unknown:It really changes your whole experience. So if you have like
Unknown:a favorite scent, like let's say mint, eucalyptus or oregano, go
Unknown:and get yourself a little bottle of that essential oil, and
Unknown:stimulate laid your
Unknown:scent sense at times. And it's really, really a beautiful way
Unknown:to connect with yourself and, and to feel good.
Unknown:What I really
Unknown:want to emphasize here is that appreciation is so much more
Unknown:important than dissecting and analyzing with the mind. What I
Unknown:find most annoying is when you sit at the table and you cook
Unknown:something and all the person is interested in is the recipe and
Unknown:what ingredients are in there. And we have to dissect
Unknown:everything to the to the ends degree. And those people usually
Unknown:don't know me because I cook and bake pretty much everything
Unknown:without recipe, I take it as a guideline and then throw it into
Unknown:a corner. When I eat when I want to taste something, then I do it
Unknown:with all my senses with my fingers, and so on. And I truly
Unknown:enjoy the moment and I feel too much were distracted
Unknown:with our phones or really want to know into the details. What
Unknown:was going on with that food before we eat it instead of just
Unknown:trusting us from for me it's a trust issue when someone has to
Unknown:know every little detail about the food that I put on the
Unknown:table.
Unknown:Except when it comes to dietary needs that I know beforehand if
Unknown:you're gluten free or lactose free or vegan or whatever. But
Unknown:as soon as I know that just shut up and enjoy.
Unknown:And the same goes for your partner. Sometimes we fatigue or
Unknown:partners with questions and we want to know and we want them to
Unknown:talk and think that that is listening and taking care of a
Unknown:partner. But sometimes we just have to feel like does that
Unknown:person really want to talk right now? Do they want to open up to
Unknown:me? Or do they just enjoy my company and want to be quiet?
Unknown:Because being able to be quiet with someone to appreciate
Unknown:silence
Unknown:to gaze into each other's eyes. Without it being awkward, is so
Unknown:so precious and very, very intimate. It is a beautiful way
Unknown:to connect. And to be silent at times is way more powerful than
Unknown:to wanting to analyze
Unknown:No and wanting and desiring and expecting and nagging.
Unknown:Yes. So appreciation is usually silent and involves all senses.
Unknown:So what I encourage you to do now is to go out into this world
Unknown:or to stay at home and to observe yourself how much you
Unknown:were appreciating stuff up until now, and how much of a beautiful
Unknown:experience you can add to your life now, with those simple
Unknown:little life hacks. Thank you so much for listening to the
Unknown:Borealis experience. I'm your host Aurora, and I'll be out
Unknown:there for you tomorrow again, thanks for being here.
