Ep. 23 Sitting in the eye of the storm [self-empowerment]

Published on: 12th July, 2022

I read a beautiful quote today saying something along the lines of :

When life gets tough just get out of your head and be the moment !

After reading it several times it still did NOT resonate with my soul and reality.

What if the present moment is a full on s*** storm and you feel like you are stuck in the worst horror movie ever ??

just get out of your head ?

I know, I know I'm a coach and should advice people to get out of their head but sometimes it's your rational that will save you and your emotional part needs to shut up a little..

Let’s dive in and find out more about this juicy topic that will most likely affect you in one way or another.

In this episode and many other episodes I touch on topics that I usually work on with my clients. Here in my podcast it will be targeted to a broad spectrum of people. If you'd like to go more into depth with a topic I address, reach out to me.

Hello, hello, and welcome to the Borealis

Unknown:

experience. I'm your host Aurora, life coach and companion

Unknown:

on this beautiful journey called life. I hope you feel good, I

Unknown:

hope you feel loved, supported, understood. If you do not feel

Unknown:

good at the moment, I hope I can bring you some light and

Unknown:

understanding and comfort. I want to create a space for you

Unknown:

where you can rest and recharge your batteries where you can

Unknown:

reflect and simply be yourself for a moment.

Unknown:

I read a beautiful quote today it said if you want to be in a

Unknown:

good place, get out of your head and into the present moment. I

Unknown:

read this several times and just thought to myself, Wow, that's

Unknown:

that's extremely easy to say. But not easy at all to translate

Unknown:

into reality at times, because what is the present moment is a

Unknown:

total shitshow a storm of chaos. Pain, uncertainty, hostility,

Unknown:

adversity, right. And then you tell a person just be in the

Unknown:

present moment. Just breathe. Just go for a walk. Just

Unknown:

exercise just cuddle your dog. Now I know all too well that

Unknown:

sometimes that is not an option. Sometimes life gets so rough.

Unknown:

And it just doesn't stop getting rougher. i And at night, you're

Unknown:

just thankful that you have a roof over your head and you

Unknown:

crawl into your bed and try to fall asleep and fetal position

Unknown:

but can't really find sleep. Life is tough life is really

Unknown:

unfair at times. And how can we help people? How can I help

Unknown:

people to not give up and to not despair. And today I want to

Unknown:

talk about how I can help people to be gentle on themselves when

Unknown:

shit goes south. Because what us humans tend to do is that the

Unknown:

little bit of control we have over our mind and our body.

Unknown:

We're going to use we're going to use against ourselves. Right

Unknown:

the little bit of influence we have I am a big proponent. So to

Unknown:

say that life is a mystery. And there's nothing much we have

Unknown:

control of sometimes a couple of glimpses. And sometimes we think

Unknown:

and I don't even that's the wrong word. We're not conscious

Unknown:

about it. But then whatever we can control and the this time

Unknown:

around, it's our body ourselves. We're also going to mistreat,

Unknown:

instead of imagining ourselves in the eye of a storm of the eye

Unknown:

of a tornado if you want to picture that and to be there

Unknown:

with ourselves and not endure the situation but trust that

Unknown:

it's going to pass. Sometimes we have a study routine. Let's take

Unknown:

intermittent fasting. Let's take yoga, any kind of exercise.

Unknown:

Let's just take napping or even masturbation. Sometimes we have

Unknown:

our little tools or little tricks that help us relax. But

Unknown:

sometimes when life gets so intense, we either stop doing

Unknown:

them or we start doing our exercising our little helpers in

Unknown:

a way that is not that they are not doing us a service anymore.

Unknown:

Right It depends How you eat. It depends how you exercise, you

Unknown:

can go to the gym, or climb up a mountain with the most

Unknown:

resentful, safe, hateful, or self hate attitude.

Unknown:

So the how becomes critical, because I feel there's a lot of

Unknown:

people out there who have very good practices, very good

Unknown:

routines. But when life gets tough, sometimes we use it

Unknown:

against ourselves, we think, yeah, Howard, I need that

Unknown:

exercise that always makes me feel good. So I have to stick to

Unknown:

my routine now. Because it's all I have. It's everything I can

Unknown:

control in my life right now. But maybe you need something

Unknown:

else. Maybe you need a chat with your best friend. And you need

Unknown:

to open up, make your heart soft again. Maybe you need complete

Unknown:

surrender. And just lay there and be real with how you feel.

Unknown:

And see where you're at. Yeah, you are in the midst of a storm.

Unknown:

Yeah, you feel sick? Yeah, everything overwhelms you,

Unknown:

you're exhausted, you're being a jerk to your spouse, to your

Unknown:

children. You have to become real with it in you can't run

Unknown:

away. And you sure shouldn't use your tools that usually help

Unknown:

you, against you. Right, maybe you have an awesome exercise

Unknown:

routine. And you should just drop it for a day and have a

Unknown:

nap. And a lot of us forget who we are right? When we are in the

Unknown:

midst of a crisis we forget our needs. And if you didn't know

Unknown:

who you were before the crisis. A crisis can also be a stepping

Unknown:

stone to getting to know yourself better, to getting to

Unknown:

know what you need to get through this phase in your life.

Unknown:

So I invite you to be curious to reach out to people and to think

Unknown:

of people that you admire that you look up to and see how they

Unknown:

would deal with your situation. Would they approach the problem

Unknown:

from the same angle? Or would it be a different angle that you

Unknown:

still have resistance to consider because it's just not

Unknown:

your style? Right? Sometimes we choose suffering unconsciously.

Unknown:

Because first of all, we might not have been given the tools to

Unknown:

navigate through this kind of storm. Or we are seeing

Unknown:

ourselves in a different light. And we refuse to step out of our

Unknown:

box. And to approach the situation with fresh eyes. Read

Unknown:

sometimes we are like these little toy cars that you drag

Unknown:

back and then you let them go. And then they fast forward. So

Unknown:

to say they they run by themselves and sometimes you hit

Unknown:

against the same wall over and over again. And you make your

Unknown:

life so much tougher than it's necessary to be. There is a

Unknown:

solution to every problem. Sometimes it just can get a

Unknown:

little messy. Sometimes you got to jump into the cold water of

Unknown:

uncertainty and put the situation to a halt to a

Unknown:

complete stop in order to protect yourself and by

Unknown:

protecting yourself. Meaning to end this war and also to protect

Unknown:

the people around you that you might have started to treat like

Unknown:

shit, because you were so stressed out. So by taking a

Unknown:

step back and looking at how do other people deal with this kind

Unknown:

of situation, can I learn from other people, can I talk to

Unknown:

somebody neutral, open up about my stuff and receive advice that

Unknown:

is going to benefit me?

Unknown:

Can I see that I might be using the wrong tools for this job.

Unknown:

And I want to have a fresh perspective on this. And you

Unknown:

will find a way out. The human species is so incredibly

Unknown:

resilient, you are so incredibly resilient. But I understand

Unknown:

sometimes it's just too much. Sometimes we feel there is no

Unknown:

way out. And I'm here to tell you that yes, there is always a

Unknown:

way out, there will be some you know, compromises, there will be

Unknown:

some attitude shifts. You will certainly need to surrender to

Unknown:

the situation and stop resisting to it, you will have to come

Unknown:

crystal clear with how you feel and communicate what you deal

Unknown:

with. And if it is not to other people, to yourself, to connect

Unknown:

to yourself, right to see again, the picture sitting in the eye

Unknown:

of the storm of the thunder of the tornado. And to know, to

Unknown:

admit that you are in crisis. Sometimes just admitting it

Unknown:

alone is going to give you relief around your heart area.

Unknown:

And this is such an important step to do because sometimes

Unknown:

we're just paddling, we're, you know, fighting and doing and

Unknown:

doing and doing and exhausting ourselves even more. And we make

Unknown:

the situation worse, instead of stepping back, looking at the

Unknown:

pile of shit that is sitting in front of us, and just admitting,

Unknown:

hey, I'm at the end of my power here. I don't know what to do.

Unknown:

And I know it's so incredibly tough to admit this to yourself,

Unknown:

especially if you are a hard worker, a provider of a family.

Unknown:

A person with strong work ethic, and and pride you know. But

Unknown:

endearing, enduring is not going to make you stronger, it's going

Unknown:

to make you weaker, and it's going to turn you into a better

Unknown:

person. And in order to not turn bitter. I want you to offer that

Unknown:

path of surrender. Surrender to yourself, surrender to the

Unknown:

situation, open up at MIT. And help will be on its way. It can

Unknown:

be your spouse, your children, it can be your friends. It can

Unknown:

be a coach, it can be your parents, it can be a stranger,

Unknown:

that will give you the key to a more easy life. We're all

Unknown:

together in this please don't forget. And we can all support

Unknown:

each other in ways that it's just hard to imagine. And my

Unknown:

biggest distress, I open up to people I met along my way while

Unknown:

I was traveling, and I learned to trust people again, through

Unknown:

my pain. And through surrendering and open up to

Unknown:

people. It was so magical because I thought I had to

Unknown:

endure and do it alone. And it doesn't mean that you dump your

Unknown:

problem onto another person. It just means that you speak it

Unknown:

out. And there is people out there who will listen to you and

Unknown:

help you out. Rock bottom is rock bottom. admit to it. And

Unknown:

then start digging yourself out with the help of others. I'm

Unknown:

gonna leave you with this. I'm sending you a big warm hug.

Unknown:

I'm so extremely grateful to have you here. I'm extra In the

Unknown:

thankful for all donations that rained into the Borealis

Unknown:

Unknown:

Unknown:

sustainable. So thanks for all donations that was very generous

Unknown:

Unknown:

Also..
A little bit about me
Trust me I’m far from feeling, behaving or being perfect.
Perfection is nothing I’m thriving for yet I can say I’m proud of my path/ life journey.

I'm no longer enslaved to my #depression
I'm no longer a #rapevictim
I no longer struggle with #eatingdisorder
I no longer feel the need to hold on to fear, anger and resentment towards men.
I #create podcast episodes and videos several times a week to support and inspire others even on days I feel poorly.
I push through hard times while being gentle on myself.

I'm able to be consistent without feeling drained for the first time in my life because I found something that brings me joy and excitement and stills my hunger to support people out there.

I try my best to understand people’s harsh opinions that are not in alignment with my values .

I learn every day on how to express myself better in a foreign language

I no longer use being bullied back then in school as an excuse in life to not show up for myself or others.

I ask questions, really annoying questions, in order to experience my environment and to find out what is best for me and my people around me ..
Yes, I still feel triggered in many situations.
Yes, I feel depressed and discouraged at times but I embrace it and don’t let it define me anymore.

Doing all this allows me to meet incredible people along the way.

People who:
- inspire me
- encourage me and ignite my deep compassion

I'm grateful for all of you and I’m so happy that I can learn from you and grow together with you .

We are all together in this beautiful mess called life
Thank you for being here

Lots of love and respect

Profile picture for Aurora Eggert

Aurora Eggert

Hello there,
Born and raised in Germany under the influence of French culture I got a taste of how people perceive life and situations totally differently depending on how and where they grew up. this ignited my deepest curiosity for human behaviour at a very young age.

Being always more of an introvert and observant child I absorbed a lot of stuff that to this day weigh heavy on my soul but on the bright side I can say that these experiences make me relate so much deeper and better to the people around me.

I understand pain. I know suffering. I know how it feels to feel misunderstood.
People say I have a warm, soothing vibe and I enjoyed many years working as a physiotherapist in Germany.

Today I’m more venturing towards bringing healing through podcasting/ Life coaching and yoga. I also encourage people to spend more time out in nature and have a Yurt set up in our forest where I host regular relaxation classes.

I would like to call myself a perception shifter because this is what helped me on my path of (ongoing) healing - I’d love to offer perception shifting thoughts/views in order to make people feel more real and their life easier and their relationships deeper.

I’m also passionate about bringing awareness to locally grown food to people’s table as I’m certain that feeling empowered and real starts with what you nurture your body with and what you absorb with all senses from your environment on a daily basis .

I live in the Rocky Mountains
Raise a couple chickens Free range for eggs and grow a beautiful vegetable garden with my grandmother, fiance and mother in summer.

Podcasting became my passion because I can reach people all over the world- Give hope, make people feel less lonely and self-empowered. Furthermore the interviews with people from around the world expand my horizon and help me heal my soul.
Bonnie my pitbull is always at my side.
connect with me and share your story on my show .

Love ❤️
A.
